The Naramata Residence is a modern architecture project located directly on the shores of Okanagan Lake. The 3-storey residence includes a 15 kW solar PV array on the roof as well as evacuated solar thermal panels that blend into the modern architectural look.
The mechanical system includes a geoexchange field that feeds two water-to-water heat pumps. The space conditioning is provided by radiant floor heating and cooling throughout the residence. Due to the extensive amount of glazing on the western lake side, a high-velocity fan coil system is designed to handle the peak heating and cooling loads.
A heat recovery system provides an efficient ventilation system. The domestic hot water system is preheated by the geoexchange field and solar thermal panels provide additional free energy from the sun. The controls system consists of Digital Automation with remote web access.
